Treasurer’s report

Cathy reported to date the balance is $491.51. There also has been no activity since last month.

 

Secretary’s report

Rebecca asked everyone to review last month’s minutes and they were approved. In order to try to save paper we will only be providing a few number of paper copies of the minutes at the meeting. Minutes are emailed after each meeting.

 

  

 

 

 

 

The Working caregiver initiative

 

 

 

 

 

 

Program Highlight

The Working Caregiver Initiative is a workplace and community program intended to provide education, information, resources and solutions on elder care issues to the “working family caregiver.”  There are several levels of care:  Community Based Services (Personal Care, Adult Day Care, Home Delivered Meals etc), Home Care Non-Medical, In-Home Services (Meal Preparation , Companionship, Housekeeping), Home Health & Hospice (Skilled Nursing Care, Wound and Dressing Changes, I.V. Old Business

Membership dues still being collected. Membership is $10.00 and must be accompanied by a membership application.  Membership application can be found online on our website www.luzernecountyinteragencycouncil.org. The Hazleton School District Parents Night Health and Information Fair was a huge success.  Approximately 250 people were in attendance.  The Farmer’s Market event was also a huge success. Several hundred people were in attendance. 

New Business

Next month’s meeting will be held in Hazleton.  This will hopefully attract more people to the Interagency from the Hazleton Area.  Meeting will be October 28, 2008 @ 12pm at the Hazleton Housing Authority 334 W Birch St.

Week of October 19:  This week is “Protect your Identity Week” please check the website of Consumer Credit Counseling Services of NEPA www.cccsnepa.org for upcoming events. Contact Teri for more information. October 16: Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration @ 6pm The Luzerne County Court House hosted by Catholic Youth Center for more information contact Carmen @ 821-9396.  November 8:  Greater Wilkes-Barre Association for the Blind Kid’s Fall Fest.  11:00am-2:00pm.  For more information contact Christin @ 693-3555. October 15/16:  Victims Resource Center. Clothesline Project on display @ Wyoming County Courthouse in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. October 16 Candlelight Vigil 6pm @ Wyoming County Courthouse, more information on both events contact Pat Rushton or Terri Nowak 823-0766. Volunteers Needed:  The American Cancer Society needs volunteers to sell, wrap and deliver daffodils.  Volunteers are also needed to help with Relay for Life fundraisers.  Please call Jen @ 383-4701 for more information.
